Last weekend we found ourselves in Des Moines, Iowa for the Goodguys Heartland Nationals. It was our first time at this show, so we did not know quite what to expect. This event is held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, which is one of the nicer facilities we have visited for an event. The car show attracted over 4500 cars to the fairgrounds and probably more would have been there if Mother Nature would have cooperated. There were plenty of beautiful cars on display from all over the Midwest.
The weather was very hot and humid on Friday which kept a lot of attendees away. We were set up outside, so I am sure our sales team shed a few pounds over the weekend. Saturday was a little cooler, so the venue was packed with cars and people until late afternoon. Unfortunately, news of an evening thunderstorm led many attendees to cruise out and take cover. Cool and breezy weather greeted everyone on Sunday.
We had a great time in Des Moines catching up with customers. A few times during the car show we heard some "thank you's" and "nice to see you's" from local customers who had never seen our team at an event before the weekend. It was a great weekend in Des Moines, even though it was wetter and hotter than we would have preferred.
