For this year's Father's Day catalog cover, we met up with long time customers and friends, the Dudley family. We've known the Dudley since we met on hot rod run in 1995. Gordon, and his daughter, Cristina, have a pair of cool, custom 1955 Chevys that we thought would look great on our catalog cover.
Gordon, his wife Suzanne, and Cristina actually drove the blue 1955 on the Rod and Custom Americruise back in 1995. That was a few engines and probably a couple hundred thousand miles ago, but the car still looks great. It was the Dudley's honeymoon vehicle, they brought Cristina home from the hospital in it, and it was Gordon's daily driver for many years while working for the LAFD. You could definitely say that his '55 is part of the family. The '55 has a 327 engine and Muncie 4-speed transmission. It was restored to its current condition in 1996, with paint/body by Big Al, upholstery by George Gomez and pinstriping by Dennis Ricklefs.
Cristina's purple '55 Chevy features a 60's style with five spoke wheels, metallic paint and white tuck and roll interior. Her and her father cruise their classics to a number of car shows up and down California. In fact, Cristina's '55 won first place in her class at the 2019 Grand National Roadster Show. It features paint from Brian LaVigna, upholstery by Wahl's, and body work by Terry Hegmen. Suzanne's 1956 Chevy convertible is another eye catcher. You can definitely see why we referred to the Dudleys as the Tri-Five Family.
Thank you to Gordon, Suzanne and Cristina for participating on our annual photo shoot. We appreciate the time and hope you enjoy the finished product. You can view our short video with Gordon and Cristina here.
